After our first book, covering the Atlantic Coast from Belgium to Southern France, we are publishing our second book continuing our journey along the European Coast. This second book moves further South exploring the Atlantic coast of the Iberian peninsula. We start in San Sebastian just beyond the border of France & Spain, until we reach the rocky promontory of Gibraltar, 5200 km of coast later.
This 400-pager and hardcover, published by Lannoo, curates all coastal beauty on the Atlantic coast of Spain and Portugal. The book gathers more than 500 landscape pictures aiming to capture the essence and soul of the shores travelled. Inside you will find stunning photography of dazzling cliffs, hidden beaches or charming coves.
Besides visual beauty, the book is a handy travel guide, taking the reader by the hand along the coast. We carefully selected, listed and described the ‘must sees’ and ‘hidden gems’. The book is built up by the 10 regions, starting in the mountainous and lush Basque Country and ending in the sun-kissed Andalusia region. In between, we find the hidden rocky coast of Galicia but also big cities such as Porto or Lisbon
Apart from an artwork of incredible photography, design and travel tips, this book is a testimony to the spirit of humankind. Every stretch of coast has been run by our community, running one part of the coast of 100 km per day. This book is the result of the longest relay every organised, consisting of stages of 100km. You can find their unbelievable stories as well inside.
Photography is shot, from the air and from the ground, and patiently edited by Lars Crommelinck and Gert-Jan D’haene. Design is carefully crafted and meticulously balanced by Mark Brown & Camille Liebaert. Art Direction is led by Charles Van Haverbeke. Website by Pieter Delbeke. Copy & content is scrambled together by Camille Liebaert, Charles Van Haverbeke, Max Monteyne and the 150 runners who connected the first to the last kilometer and whose names you will find in the book.
We plan to run the entire coastline of Europe. We started in Belgium and by reaching Gibraltar, we marked a 10.000 km ran. The total coastline is 100.000 km. Every 5.000 km we will publish a new book. You can support our project by funding this campaign and help us to create magic moments and incredible pieces of art.
